Do you take my insurance?

I am not in-network with any insurance panels and do not accept insurance for payment of services. I am happy to provide a superbill which you can submit to your insurance company for out-of-network reimbursement, however, please note it is never guaranteed that your insurance would reimburse you.

Why don’t you take insurance?

I have many reasons for this. Insurance companies can limit and interfere with your treatment. I believe that the duration and frequency of treatment should be determined by you and I alone, not a third party that only has their financial interests in mind. Insurance requires a lot of extra paperwork that I do not get paid for, they do not pay enough per service, and they often change paperwork requirements without proper notice and deny providers payment. It’s a hassle I do not wish to engage with. I value your privacy and confidentiality, and I do not wish to deal with insurance audits and share your records with insurance companies.

What kinds of payment do you accept?

I accept credit cards, FSA/HSA cards, checks, or cash for payment. All credit card or FSA/HSA transactions are processed through my secure client platform.

What can I expect in a session?

Your first session (the intake appointment) is about gathering information and building our therapeutic relationship. I want to hear your expectations for me and our work together, what your therapy goals are, and what brings you to therapy now. I like to think of the first appointment like we are at an open house: we are touring the house together. We will open doors and see what’s in each room and closet, see what we are working with, but then we close the door and move along. In our subsequent therapy sessions, we work together on building progress towards your mental wellness goals while I gather a more detailed understanding of the concerns that bring you to therapy. You set the pace at which we go in our sessions together.

How often will we meet?

Therapy is an investment of time and finances. Therefore, this is a decision you make because I trust that you know your needs and financial standing best. However, I will encourage new clients to meet with me weekly or at least  every other week for the first 3-5 sessions to help us build our therapeutic relationship and to help you build momentum toward your goals.

How do I know we are a good fit  together?

Finding the right therapist is a personal journey. Generally, I suggest scheduling an initial consultation where we can discuss your needs and goals. During our initial consultation, trust your instincts about whether my style and approach resonate with you. Notice if you feel comfortable being open and whether my responses feel helpful. While my therapeutic framework draws from evidence-based practices, it's your sense of fit that matters most. Consider practical aspects too, like scheduling and location - but let your authentic experience guide your decision. It's perfectly fine to meet with a few therapists before deciding who's the best match. Remember, a strong therapeutic alliance is key to successful therapy outcomes.
